Purpose
Council is trialling self-haul waste disposal vouchers for two years from August 2025.
Vouchers will be issued via the QPRC Waste Info App. The vouchers will help residents in meeting the costs of household bulky and/or general waste disposal at QPRC Waste Transfer Stations at Bungendore, Braidwood, Macs Reef, Captains Flat and Nerriga. Vouchers cannot be redeemed at the Queanbeyan Waste Minimisation Centre as the facility does not accept general waste.
Vouchers are issued electronically to reduce the use of paper, to avoid lost vouchers, and to ensure equitable access to vouchers. The QPRC Waste Info App also provides a range of useful information to residents about waste services, including accessing calendars, and can be used to notify of problems or changes in waste services.
For urban residents, vouchers will enable residents to access bulky waste disposal at no charge on the basis that the resident can arrange transport of the waste. Vouchers will improve flexibility for some urban residents in managing bulky waste.
For rural and remote residents, vouchers provide cost relief for general waste disposal either for general household waste for those that do not have a collection service, or for disposal of bulky waste in recognition that it is not feasible for
Council to provide bulky waste collection services outside major towns and villages
