Landfill bins are provided for household waste that cannot go in your recycling bin. Your landfill bin will have a red lid. The maximum weight limit is 80kg ✅ Acceptable items: ✅ General Waste ✅ Damaged clothing and textiles ✅ Crockery and ceramics ✅ Disposable nappies ✅ Drinking glasses ✅ Foam ✅ Mirrors and broken window glass ✅ Heat-proof dishes e.g. Pyrex ✅ Plastic bags, plastic wrap and bubble wrap ✅ Plastic food wrappers ✅ Polystyrene (expanded e.g. foam) ❌ Unacceptable items: ❌ Building materials ❌All batteries ❌ Gas bottles ❌ Hazardous waste or chemicals ❌ Cooking oils, used engine oil ❌ Paint (including oil and water based) ❌ Recyclable items (put in your yellow bin!) ❌ Rocks and soil ❌ Fluorescent tubes ❌ Fire extinguishers
✅ Acceptable items: ✅ Fruit & vegetable and food scraps✅ Meat, bones & seafood scraps (including shells). Cooked and raw food.✅ Egg shells & dairy products✅ AS4736 certified compostable liners provided by council only (liners can be collected from council officers and the transfer stations, free of charge) ✅ Tea leaves & coffee grounds (no tea or coffee bags) ✅ Takeaway food & leftovers✅ Grass clippings, leaves, sticks, weeds✅ Small branches under 200mm diameter ❌ Unacceptable items: ❌ General rubbish❌ Nappies❌ Pet poo or kitty litter ❌ Fertilisers and poisons❌ Plastic bags❌ Polystyrene❌ Building waste, dirt or gravel ❌ Manufactured or treated wood, tree stumps/ branches greater than 200mm diameter❌ Food packaging❌ Coffee bags & tea bags❌ Paper towel, napkins, serviettes or wipes
✅ Acceptable items: ✅ Paper and cardboard ✅ Steel & aluminium cans ✅ Empty glass bottles and jars (no lids) ✅ Empty plastic bottles and containers (no lids) with the plastic code numbers 1, 2, 3, 5 only. You will find the number inside the recycling triangle ✅ Tetra paks (no lids) ❌ Unacceptable items: ❌ Soft plastics or wrapping ❌ Nothing smaller than a credit card and no lids ❌ Straps, hoses, netting, wires, cords, cables ❌ Don’t bag or box recyclables ❌ Paper towel, serviette, napkins, or wipes ❌ Shredded paper ❌ Plastic bags
